Aleesah is a friend, writer, proactive member of the kids writing community, reviewer, Mum of 2 cute boys, with Totally Twins series coming out with New Frontier illustrated by Serena Geddes but for now ….. drum role …. she has her first picture book out – PUGGLE’S PROBLEM.

That puggle echidna keeps looking for his spine … it’s an endearing story with gorgeous illustrations by Sandra Temple.

Congratulations Oliver on the launch of Thai-riffic

Oliver Phommavanh is such a great guy.  While studying at the University of Western Sydney, Oliver had the get-up-and-go to join the writing community.

I first met Oliver when he pitched some of Thai-riffic at the Kids and YA Literature Festival NSW Writer Centre Rozelle a few years ago.

I’m the Director of that Festival.  The next festival is Saturday 3rd July, starts at 10 am with the talented crime writer Gabrielle Lord opening it and Oliver speaking at it.

There are heaps of publishers, authors, illustrators, film writers, theatre speaking … and Oliver is going to talk about how the community including how the NSW Writers Centre and other ways as part of his journey to publication.

Congratulations on the warm, funny and entertaining book Oliver!

Talking to kids across Australia with Tele-Conferencing

Technology is zooming ahead and we’re racing as fast as we can to catch up.

We’ve discovered the smart board – computer on a screen that travels to classrooms from Blaxland Public School to Balgawlah Heights Public School – kids love themselves on TV.

Nina Ryecroft explored Ballroom Bonanza. Aleesah Darlison and Serena Geddes showed the development of the series ‘Totally Twins’ to be published by  New Frontier.

Laurine Croasdale surfed across the screen with her Surf School books, Sue Walker gave a great inter active workshop and I did bullying and I Am JACK.

Kids asked questions from the country to the surf and despite the hiccups, it worked out really well.

Thankyou to e-Lit, Val Noake and CAL for helping develop this.
