Wearing tiaras for the Wedding of the Decade: Congratulations to Will & Kate

Crowns, tiaras are ready and I’ve brought out my bride’s doll.

My mother designed and made the bride dress for my doll in preparation for my prince.

I’ve been kissing a lot of frogs but no prince yet.

Still my kids are a princess and prince to me.

I carried my doll with me through all my childhood. My doll is wearing her tiara today. Maybe I’ll write a story about her – she should have been there at the wedding in my recently published and much-loved book ‘Always Jack’ inspired by my children – my prince and princess.

Kindness Changes Your Life – ANZAC Day, Simpson & His Donkey, Reader’s Digest,The Power of Good

It’s Anzac Day today, sunset services are being held all over Australia.

I’m up at sunset watching the Anzac service where doves of peace have been released.

Simpson & his Donkey represent the act of kindness that changes lives. Simpson carried more than 300 wounded soldiers from the World War 1 Gallipoli battlefield  under fire to safety. These special books engage us in the courage of Simpson and his Donkey:-

Simpson and His Donkey by Mark Greenwood illustrated by Frane Lessac

The Donkey Who Carried the Wounded by Jackie French

We all do acts of kindess at times, receive them at others.

Reader’s Digest says their column on acts of kindness has exploded – people want to celebrate acts of kindness.

Reader’s Digest supports the just released book ‘The Power of Good’ – stories of the kindness of strangers by leaders in the community, writers, actors, politicans…. and of course some children’s authors – Libby Gleeson. There’s one from me too.

Love sharing my Creative Life with you ~ but my blog was in trouble. However after many bandaids ~ Susanne Gervay’s Blog is Back!!!!!

There’s so much news too. Have to get my photos in order 1st as lost them too- so just a quick entry because my son and bullying’s on my mind.

I loved speaking at All Saints -  the authors, creators, teachers, kids … it was about friendship, sharing story, inspiring young people and old.  I came home to beautiful fan mail and comments from All Saints.

I was moved when a parent-teacher sought me out after my talk on I AM JACK & School Bullying. She said that after hearing me speak, she’d shared time with her son and they’d talked about bullying in a real way.

TEARY moment for me – because I’d been there with my son bullied and he couldn’t get me to hear him.
