Always Jack’ is close to my heart as it reaches with humour and warmth into family life, friendship embracing the challenges we all face be it cancer, migration, aging grandparents, blending families.

‘Always Jack’ carries the precious Cancer Council’s yellow daffodil and endorsement;-

‘Always Jack makes it safe for children, parents and the community to talk about cancer.’  

In the beautiful Dixon Room in the Mitchell Library in Macquarie Street Sydney, ‘Always Jack’ was honoured by receiving the Society of Women Writers Biennial Book Award.

The NON-FICTION award were impressive with especially with the brilliant works of:

1st prize:     Sharyn Killens & Lindsay Lewis   (The Inconvenient Child)

2nd prize:  Dr. Maria Hill  (Diggers & Greeks)

The award winning poet Judith Beveridge celebrated the very high standard of poetry collections. She struggled to select the winners:-

1st prize  :  Winifred Weir   (Walking on Ashes)

 Highly Commended :   Carolyn Gerrish  (The View From The Moon) 

 Commended :    Libby Hathorn  (Vietnam Reflections)

 

It was a wonderful day.
