Look, I'm fine. Yes, my ears have grown, my nose protrudes and my eyes are insane. I'm just getting into the zone. No FB, twitter, instagram for a bit. Ha? Am I sick? I go into spinal surgery tomorrow and I won't be jumping around for a while. But watch this space - I'll be back for the SCBWI Australia and New Zealand Conference, my loved picture book 'Boy In The Big Blue Glasses' illustrated by the brilliant one-and-only Marjorie Crosby-Fairall .... watch this space!

Love being an ambassador for the Premier’s Reading Challenge where nearly 400,000 kids from public, private, catholic, home schools read, read, read. The premier Gladys Berejiklian was so warm to the kids of Holyrood Special School. When she read ‘Twig’ by Aura Parker with one of the kids, it was beautiful. THANKYOU to the amazing Tamara Rodgers and the teachers of the school for a day of celebrations.

Love the other ambassadors too Deborah Abela Author, Oliver Phommavanh and Will Kostakis - they're still out on the author road speaking at schools, so I was the ambassador representative this time! We'll all committed to the PRC and reading.

I 💗 World Vision Australia-dedicated to empowering indigenous kids in the juvenile justice system, so they'll believe in their future. I ‘m hanging out here with Kaye Houston from World Vision, celebrating what they do. Have a look at their amazing programs with education and developing self sufficiency.

It's that time of year to love and care. So my favourite charities who I support are Room to Read Australia reaching 12 million kids in the developing world, Books in Homes Australia reaching indigenous and disadvantaged kids with books, Monkey Baa Theatre taking the best of kids theatre to kids from the outback to the cities.

Birrong Girls High School is a beautiful school welcoming visitors with a gorgeous display of The Kangaroo Paw plantings, Australian girls from diverse backgrounds and the much loved school librarian Victor Davidson. As I walked to the library, the girls told me their ambitions- to be an intensive care nurse, scientist, teacher. It is a state school in Western Sydney offering the best of education with books at its core. I have spoken there to the girls about my books again to a wonderful reception. It’s always a pleasure to visit and talk books.

I did my pratice teaching there in the 1970s! I still have a letter from some of the students thanking me for bringing history to life for them! It's one of the things that inspired me to write my Heritage Heroes books.

Guess where I am? NSW Tourism Awards- 1st song and dance was The Showman - only issue is - where is HughJackman - but the show was fabulous and The Residences Centennial Park was a finalist for best unique accommodation and events in NSW. Hey, forget NSW - they must have meant the best in Australia! Ha!

It was glittery and I accidentally met the editor of KOOKIE MAGAZINE - who I'd never met before - who's edited my story for the next Kookie edition. The world is really - six degrees of separation.

High-fives to the NSW Education for their internationally recognised Braille and Large Print services to the kids of NSW and beyond.

41 kids received awards for their creative writing at the Braille Awards Night. I put braille medals around their necks and I got a medal too for sharing 'I Am Jack' (HarperCollins Children's Books Australia) with them.

It was a privilege to share the occasion with such dedicated teachers and transcribers of books into Braille. I loved the kids who are brave and dedicated, facing great challenges to be readers and so much more.

They read books for the Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC) - in braille of course! I am proud to be aan ambassador for the PRC with Deborah Abela and Oliver Phommavanh Fan Page
