Touring with Susanne
Writing has taken me to some fantastic locations, including:
- Exotic Ubud Readers' & Writers' Festival in Bali, with its temples, fragrant scents, deep green valleys, enjoying sweet mango whilst chatting to Booker Prize winner Michael Ondaatje
- Beijing Literature Festival where I wandered through antiquity in the Forbidden City and banqueted with authors from all over the world in authentic restaurants
- New York with the emotional boat trip to the Statue of Liberty and speaking at the World Burn Congress on the faculty with Kim Phuc, the girl running from napalm in the 1972 Vietnam award winning photo
- Republic of Korea where illustrator Frané Lessac & I partied with one of Korea's famous illustrators on beautiful Nami Island dedicated to youth, literature and the environment
- Regional Australia including a moving experience in the Shire of Wakool where as an Australia Day Ambassador I addressed the community, as well as chatting to Michael Parkinson in Sydney after he gave the Australia Day address
- Kiribati where there are 32 Pacific atoll islands, meeting the people, celebrating their dance and song, advocating for a voice in their challenge of the impact of climate change, travelling with Pat Dobson the father of Indigenous Reconciliation and a documentary film crew.
I've spoken in Delhi, Goa, Hong Kong, Byron Bay, Perth, Darwin, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane and towns across Australia from Kalgoorlie, to Coffs Harbour. Keep track of my travels on my interactive travel map.
It's been a privilege to engage communities, speak about writing and the power of story journey to engage and make life better.
